AWANA is a club where children learn about Jesus and the Bible! The biggest part of AWANA is the memorization of Bible verses. AWANA is about placing God's Word in the minds of our children that they may continue to grow and develop a love for the Bible. The theme verse that we start each night is 2 Timothy 2:15 KJV; "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." The acronym for AWANA is; Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed. In AWANA, we also spend time hearing lessons from speakers, singing songs, and playing AWANA games. Children in AWANA will also earn awards for sections they complete, for attendance, and for game points. It's not all seriousness though- in AWANA we will have special theme nights and events for kids to have fun, dress up, and maybe even do the AWANA Grad Prix!
Our current AWANA program is for children from Pre-K to 6th grade. We want parents to be regularly involved which includes volunteering in some way at least once a month.
Awana is a world-wide nonprofit ministry focused on providing Bible-based evangelism and discipleship solutions for children. As the global leader in child and youth discipleship, Awana gives children the opportunity to know, love and serve Jesus, no matter their background. We want to "train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it." - Proverbs 22:6. We want to teach the Word of God to our children to equip them for going out into the world, in accordance with the Great Commission. "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit." -Matthew 28:19. We believe that "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." -2 Timothy 3:16-17
